Triumph Bonneville T40
The newly unveiled Triumph Bonneville T40 2027 brings the classic Bonneville design to Triumph’s smaller-capacity range, combining traditional styling with a modern single-cylinder engine. In markets outside India, the T40 is powered by Triumph’s 398cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder TR-Series engine, giving it a stronger performance focus while maintaining the relaxed character expected from a Bonneville. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and is tuned to deliver useful low- and mid-range torque for everyday riding. Its styling stays true to Triumph’s classic roadster design, featuring a round headlight, sculpted fuel tank, spoke-style wheels, twin rear shocks, a long seat, and a traditional exhaust. At the same time, modern rider aids and electronic features bring the bike up to date without taking away from its retro appearance, making the T40 a blend of classic Bonneville character and contemporary technology.
For India, Triumph uses a smaller 350cc version of the engine instead of the 398cc unit offered in other markets. This India-spec 350cc engine is designed specifically for the local market and produces around 29 hp and 31 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed transmission. The Indian-spec T40 also comes with modern features such as ride-by-wire, multiple riding modes, traction control, cornering ABS, cruise control, and a colour TFT instrument display, depending on the final specification. With its smaller engine, the India-market T40 offers a more accessible entry into the Bonneville family while retaining the classic styling and character associated with Triumph.
Triumph Bonneville T40 Black
The Triumph Bonneville T40 Black is the darker and more distinctive version of the T40, using the same basic mechanical package while adding a more aggressive visual treatment. It retains the traditional Bonneville proportions, including the round headlight, teardrop-style fuel tank, spoke wheels, twin rear suspension, and classic exhaust layout. However, several components receive darker finishes, giving the Black model a more premium and muscular appearance. In international markets, the T40 Black is powered by the 398cc single-cylinder TR-Series engine, which offers a good balance of everyday usability and performance. The six-speed transmission and modern electronic features also make it well suited to both urban riding and longer weekend trips.
The Indian version uses Triumph’s 350cc engine instead of the 398cc motor offered in other markets. This India-specific engine produces approximately 29 hp and 31 Nm of torque, giving the T40 Black performance suited to the 350cc category while maintaining the same overall Bonneville character. The Indian model combines its classic design with modern equipment, including riding modes, ride-by-wire, traction control, cornering ABS, cruise control, and a full-colour TFT display. Darker finishes across the engine and bodywork, along with contrasting details, give the T40 Black a more distinctive appearance than the standard T40 without changing the motorcycle’s core character.
Triumph Bonneville T4
The Triumph Bonneville T4 is positioned as a more affordable and straightforward member of Triumph’s smaller-capacity Bonneville family. It follows the same retro-roadster design theme, with a classic fuel tank, round headlight, spoke wheels, twin rear shocks, and a traditional exhaust. However, its equipment and overall specification are focused on keeping the motorcycle more accessible. In international markets, the T4 uses Triumph’s 398cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, giving it more displacement than the India-specific version. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and is designed to provide useful torque for both city riding and open-road journeys, while the relaxed riding position and classic chassis complement its Bonneville-inspired character.
For the Indian market, however, the Bonneville T4 gets a 350cc version of Triumph’s single-cylinder engine. The India-spec motor produces roughly 29 hp and 31 Nm of torque and is paired with a six-speed gearbox. Triumph has effectively tailored the engine capacity to suit the Indian market while keeping the overall Bonneville concept intact. Compared with the T40, the T4 places greater emphasis on affordability and straightforward equipment, making it a more accessible entry point into Triumph’s Bonneville range. This gives Indian buyers a genuine Bonneville-style motorcycle with a 350cc engine, while customers in other markets receive the larger 398cc version.
